Welcome to Baited Shark Diving at Protea Banks, South Africa’s most renowned shark hotspot. Launching daily from Shelly Beach, we offer guided, ethical baited dives that bring you eye-to-eye with up to eight shark species, including tiger, bull, blacktip, and hammerhead sharks.

The Protea Banks are world-famous for baited dives that attract multiple shark species. Depending on the season, divers may encounter:
- Oceanic Blacktip Sharks (year-round)

Dive Itinerary
- 07:00 – Meet at Shelly Beach Launch Site
- 07:30 – Safety Briefing & Gear Check
- 08:00 – Boat Launch to Protea Banks
- 08:30 – Dive Begins (45–60 min underwater)
- 10:00 – Return and Debrief at Base
We offer both single dives and double-dive packages. No dive license? Ask about our Discover Shark Diving program!
Who Can Join?
- Be 16 years or older
- Open water certification witjh minimum of 20 dives
- Be medically fit to dive
We offer introductory briefings and supervised dives for first-timers. Certified divers with an Advanced Open Water qualification will be permitted deeper dives on request.
