Let's go Diving with sharks on PROTEA BANKS

We offer two different types of SHARK dives on PROTEA BANKS

Reef Shark Dive:

Our reefs lie between 30 to 40m and due to depth and current, which can range from mild to very strong, it is a drift multilevel dive.

For this dive an Advanced certification is required The dive on Protea Banks can be challenging and must be done by experienced divers, and for that reason we only accept divers with at least 35 dives and experience with deep dives. If you do not have the experience and still would like to dive Protea you can hire an instructor to dive with you.

On this shark dive on Protea Banks, you will see SHARKS in their natural habitat with their natural behavior. Sightings can be fleeting or you can get up close and personal with the SHARKS as they come in and out of our line of vision, the dive can be very intense or very chilling – it is nature so you can expect the unexpected.

This dive has a duration of 40-50 minutes depending on your personal air consumption.

baited SHARK DIVE:

If you want a really close up encounter with sharks and take great photography, this shark dive on Protea Banks is what you are looking for.

This shark dive is suitable for those starting with an Open Water certification as it only goes to 10m. You must have good buoyancy as this dive is done in mid-water with no reef as a reference and be comfortable with the idea of SHARKS all around you. We usually get Blacktips and Bull sharks and during the season Tiger sharks.

ALL DIVES ARE SUBJECT TO WEATHER CONDITIONS ON THE DAY!

Our dives are strictly weather-dependent, which means dives can be canceled even on the day of the dive. Every morning our skipper visits our base and assesses the conditions. That is for the safety of our divers.

If the dive is canceled due to weather conditions you can choose to dive another day, choose one of our day tours or be refunded.

Due to the logistical planning of running a successful dive charter, dives canceled by the customer within less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded. On the day dives will not be refunded if being cold, seasick, hungover, being tired is a reason for not diving. The same applies to not being able to descend and no shows.

NB!! Deposits for promotion packages will not be refunded. Only dives that have been canceled due to launch conditions or for safety purposes will be refunded.

Please take note, Protea Banks is a Marine Protected area, therefore EVERY diver requires an MPA Permit. These are obtainable from any Post Office (Monthly or Annual) or for your convenience from us (monthly only).
