The Divemaster Internship and Shark Diver Leader Program at Protea banks with Dive In Adventure Tours is designed for divers who want more than just another certification. Based at world famous Protea Banks on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast of South Africa, this internship gives you the chance to train in deep offshore shark diving while learning how to become a confident and professional dive leader.

What You Will Learn
Real Ocean Experience
This internship is hands on from day one. You will not just be observing, you will become part of the daily life and operations at Protea Banks.
Your days will start early with preparing equipment, helping the crew, and launching through the surf before heading offshore for shark dives in the open ocean.
During the internship you will be involved in:
Surf launches and boat preparation
Gear setup and diver assistance
Safety procedures and dive briefings
Guiding and supporting certified divers
Shark diving operations and daily logistics
Learning how to read ocean conditions and currents
Spotting marine life and assisting underwater
Drift diving in blue water conditions
Working closely with the crew and dive team
Most days include two dives offshore, followed by time with the team reviewing conditions, marine life sightings, and sharing stories from the day.

Prerequisites
To join the Divemaster internship, you should have:
Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent)
Rescue Diver certification
Valid First Aid / CPR certification
Good comfort in the water and strong motivation to learn
Medical clearance for diving
If you still need Rescue Diver or other prerequisites, we can help you complete them.
