In South Africa, there is a saying: “Diving in Africa is not for sissies.” The reason for that is the challenging conditions and the presence of the biggest predators of the oceans. Diving in South Africa is definitely an experience that will take you out of your comfort zone. From the surf launch, which is an adventure in itself, to currents that can drift the diver several kilometers during a single dive, unpredictable visibility, and sharks coming in and out of your line of vision, you will certainly have an experience like no other in the world!
The Mozambican current flows down the eastern coast of South Africa, bringing warm, nutrient-rich tropical waters to the coastline of KwaZulu-Natal, making it the perfect place to spot sea life. From big animals like mantas, rays, sharks, whales, dolphins, and turtles to reef and pelagic fish, hard & soft coral. KwaZulu-Natal has numerous marine preserved areas teeming with wildlife.
The most common species of sharks we encounter during our dives depending on the season:

From June to November hundreds of Humpback Whales migrate from the Southern Pole to the warmer waters of KwaZulu-Natal, giving us an amazing show during our boat trip to and from the dive site … and yes … we have incredible underwater encounters with these magnificent Whales!!!
