The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Mountain Range offers some of the most breathtaking views imaginable. because of its ragged picks it was Named the “Dragon Mountain” (Drakensberg) by the early African settlers and the “Barrier of Spears” (uKhahlamba) by the Zulus, . As the highest mountain range in the country, reaching an impressive 3,482 meters above sea level, it is truly a sight to behold.
This awe-inspiring and truly magnificent range of mountains spans well over 200 kilometers, forming a natural border between Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal.
Its topography, historical importance, fauna, and flora unique to the region was the reasons why part of it Maloti-Drakensberg Park was turned into a UNESCO world heritage site. This World Heritage Site is of great importance because of its spectacular natural landscape, safe haven for many threatened and endemic species, and for its biggest collection of rock paintings in subsesarian Africa made by the San people over a period of 4,000 years. It is also here that the second world highest waterfall, the Tugela Falls, drops an impressive 983 m (3,225 ft) to form KwaZulu-Natal`s largest river: the Tugela river.
In Drakensberg lies the mother of all mountain passes in Africa: The Sani Pass that crosses the Drakensberg all the way into to Lesotho.

The Royal National Park is part of a world heritage and it is a scenic mountain wonderland inserted in the North region of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. A rock wall 5km long and 500 meters high, the world-famous Drakensberg Amphitheatre is the main attraction of the reserve. On the top of this mountain is where the Orange River (South Africa`s longest river) starts its incredible journey.

GIANT CASTLE
The Giant`s castle got its name from the shape that the peaks and escarpments form against the sky. It resembles the profile of a sleeping giant.
